happy birthday, mom!

monday was my mom's birthday and i am so sad that i couldn't be with her to celebrate! it's hard living away from family. on the bright side, it makes holidays and vacations that much more special!

the older i get the more i appreciate my mom. especially now that i am a mom, i look back at my childhood and teen years and i am in awe. she always had a home-cooked meal (except for those occasional pizza nights that we all loved) on the table and our laundry cleaned and folded. i love and always look forward to  our girl time get-aways. we love doing the same things and are pretty predictable. when we are together, you will either find us getting starbucks, reading magazines, shopping, sitting by the pool or all of them combined! it never fails, i get in the car with my mom and about 5 minutes into the drive, she will usually turn with a big grin and say, "you want to get a cooooffeee???!!!" she is the best mom.  i realize now how just how selfless and servant-hearted she is. she continually shows me what it means to be a loving wife and mother.

 i am so thankful for her example.
