peter and i got to go on a mini vacation to charleston, south carolina! we went with my in-laws and had a blast! we arrived the day of peter's birthday so we had even more reason to celebrate! there are tons of photos and i keep trying to choose only a few but it has proved to be impossible. so here is day 1...still to come are day 2 and day 3.
here is where we stayed. it was a condo above a burrito shop. i love the brick! we were right in the heart of down-town so we were within walking distance of the farmer's market, urban outfitters, j.crew, ice cream...you know, all of the important stuff.
view from our condo
our first breakfast choice. we were a bit skeptical because it was right next to a gas station and seemed tiny. it turned out to be one of our favorite restaurants! a couple owned it and apparently they are famous for tomato pie {i wish i would've tried some}
this is where naomi was most of the trip. she handled it extremely well. i tried to get her out as much as possible.
we were walking along the coast and came across this talented artist.
i love all of the colors.
she got a lot of good practice eating at restaurants.
in charleston, there is an area along the coast called "the battery." it is full of colonial mansions built by settlers. it is an incredibly beautiful area.
there were tons of sailboats
see what i mean. these houses were amazing.
there was also a huge park with great climbing trees that he took advantage of.
there were cannon balls
and you guessed it, cannons.
peter requested this photo...i think he is trying to look like a statue?
almost all of the houses had gated garden areas with lush greenery
taking in the view
then it was back home for bath time and bed time!
stay tuned for the adventures of day two!

WOW!
ReplyDeleteThe brick walls i LOVE (maybe we could rip out some wood walls and add a few brick ones??? maybe not) The trees were STUNNING.
LOVE the mansions!
