a twenty dollar bill

the other night, peter and i decided to do something we rarely do. we decided to go out for dinner! sure we go out for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions, but a family night out for dinner is not a common occurrence for us. we are big coupon lovers and we had a buy one entree, get the second free for two different places. this is usually how we decide where to eat. we decided on one of the restaurants only to drive up to a closed sign.

so we went to our second option, qdoba (and boy am i glad we did!) we got our food and paid a whopping 7 dollars total for our dinner. not a bad deal. so there we were, just sitting at our table in the corner enjoying ourselves when a middle aged woman approached our table. she looked extremely nervous. i was actually nervous for her because i had no idea what was happening. she said, "uhhmm, excuse me. i have never done this before...i mean...i..uh..i don't normally do things like this, but...well, umm...God told me to pay for your meal and i had to obey. so here you go...uhhmm have a good night." and out the front door she went.

my jaw dropped and i was trying to get out the words, "thank you," before she walked out the door. this woman had just laid a twenty dollar bill on our table (almost 3x's the amount of our meal) and walked out the door!! are you kidding me??

the majority of the rest of the meal, peter and i sat in silence staring at each other and then staring at the $20 laying on our table. we were so humbled. we were so confused. we were so thankful.  why do we ever question His provision? our God is such a generous and loving God. we did nothing to deserve what that lady did for us. i wish i knew the woman's name. i may never know, but i do know that it pointed me towards thanking my heavenly Father.
